Michael
Parkes is the world’s leading magical realist painter, sculptor,
and stone lithographer. His decades of success as a fine artist
stand out in the art world, where less than 1% of artists ever achieve
the success in both the primary and secondary markets that Michael
has achieved. His works are collected by celebrities, private collectors,
and galleries around the world, and his body of work stands for
the ages. That being said, Michael continues to create many new
works, all of which are widely sought after. Read on for more information
about Michael’s exhibition history, style and technique, place
in art history, and personal history.
Exhibitions
Michael
Parkes has had one-man exhibitions at some of the world’s
most renown and exclusive art fairs such as Basel Art in Switzerland,
Art Chicago, Art Fair NY, Frankfurt Bookfair, Amsterdam Art Fair,
Tefaf Art and Antiques Fair Maastricht. He also has had numerous
one man shows for the past three decades in Amsterdam, New York
and Paris. His work is eagerly awaited and is represented by galleries
in Amsterdam, Paris, Denmark, New York, Los Angeles, the San Francisco
Bay Area, and around the United States. In 2005 Michael was invited
by the town hall of Sanary sur Mer, France, to be their guest of
honor for a celebration of Magic Realism. The week long events were
recorded by French national television. In 2007, Michael was the
guest of honor and featured artist in the international show “Venus
and the Female Intuition,” exhibited in Denmark and Holland.
Also in 2007, Michael Parkes’ work inspired a contemporary
ballet production by Scorpius Dance Theater of Phoenix, where his
art came alive in the ballet’s sets and characters.
